#AshlawncuttingLNR work party today focussed on the Areas either side of the former reservoir pond. Coppicing large Hazel shrubs on the South side and breaking through the scrub on the North side to access overhanging Willows and prepare to lay the scrub into a hedge

While rebuilding a log pile at #AshlawncuttingLNR There was a bright flash and loud hissing as these 2 Peacock butterflies showed their alarm reflex. Log was replaced carefully and the pilke rebuilt around and over it.

Still no water birds or waders to write home about at VC38 Wildlife Trust's Brandon Marsh . I found a Kingfisher and seeing movement closer by had 10 minutes with this Goldcrest searching the lichen 4 feet away!

Today we finished the annual cut and rake of grasslands at Newbold Quarry just before it rained. We'll be focussing on scrub control and some tree felling to expand the areas of calcareous grassland until Spring.
