yup. it's pretty appalling.

They changed who was doing the subtitles somewhere between episodes. Normally they're really good on this site but there's been typos and spelling mistakes showing up, this ep they stopped translating people's names when they show them on screen, and they're using a new transliteration for one

(in my family we all grew up doing orienteering using maps like this and I always have to remind myself that most people have never even seen something like this let alone been expected to follow it)
An orienteering map of Rowdy Flat, showing terrain variations using various symbols, colourings and textures and contour lines for heights. Red circles and lines map out the route to be taken to follow the course.

I don't think so. I've seen it being sold every year since I was a kid, though I stopped eating it after the earthquakes and only then learned how endangered it is.

Ah yes, the topographical map.
A screenshot from a c-drama showing a map of a mountainous region with a subtitle naming some of the labeled mountains. It has what seems to be a legend off to one side but the bulk of the map is drawings of mountains with lines weaving around them to show the major roads in the area; in the south and east is also a river. There is very little close detail.

there's three guys who have crushes on her and her highly consistent reaction is "why are these annoying boys always around?"

my beloved Shunhua loves me. But Niaoniao doesn't--"

"[She] will develop feelings for me in the future."

"Mr Lou, you're so... Yet, you have such high self-confidence. I'm truly impressed."

Main character's third uncle is giving advice to a guy who's into her.

"Shunhua and Niaoniao have different personalities. So are we. You'll lose your strong points if you imitate me blindly. I'm talented and dashing while you're clueless and timid. But that's beside the point. The point is,

I have been seriously worried about early onset Alzheimer's, as the early signs are the loss of language skills. My typing has been becoming very erratic. Turns out that you can cure Alzheimer's by giving your keyboard a really good clean out. (Freed up a sticky "e" key)

Art History was what I took in seventh form because I'd been bumped up a year in Spanish back in fourth form and now I'd finished with it and had a gap in my schedule. It was fantastic and I ended up getting a very close second in the class... and remember almost no Spanish anymore. 😂

for some reason it seems like people are much less capable of feeling empathy for sea creatures than those that live on the land. it says a lot more about us than it does about them.

The cruel Miami Sea Aquarium which pioneered the most obscene treatment of captive animals for 70 years, closed its doors forever yesterday
I found my good news story after all

haha her friend's grandma whose birthday party it was is like "yeah Niaoniao totally set this up. but you know, she told the gardeners to put up warning signs, so no one can say it's our fault. whatcha gonna do."

the servants are the only ones nearby and they're staring at her like "wtf?"

to have the idea to stand on it to get a better view of the young men. now all the mean girls are embarrassed and crying because they got wet and she's dancing in circles by herself that she got them back without any evidence it was her.

lmao main character in this c-drama keeps getting in fights and her mother gets mad about it so she went to a party at her friend's house where there's a dangerous bridge they were planning to replace, took it half apart so it still looked the same, and then really subtly set up the mean girls

I thought it was pretty obvious that that was sarcastic? the screenshot is like three reactions deep, @Lum didn't write it, he only wrote "um, yes, that's really a problem"

Hmm, the Te Ara page about suicide in NZ has a lot of the numbers as well as a list of sources at the bottom but doesn't have in text citations saying which source each number came from. Most recent publication date in the sources is 2014 but it's somewhere to start at least.

Mental Health Foundation quotes the Youth 19 survey ([mentalhealth.org.nz/suicide-prev...](www.youth19.ac.nz) which found that among young people the overall rate for attempts was 6.2%, with 7.3% for women and 5% for men, will keep looking for all ages

tag yourself I'm 52 years an imbecile

(though I'd note that "knocker-up of workpeople" isn't remotely puzzling. to knock someone up is an archaic way of saying to wake them by knocking on their door - that person was basically a human alarm clock.)
