It‘s downstream of the “the US doesn’t have parties, they’ve got coalitions of informal parties called Parties” which is at once a complaint and the most ferociously defended thing depending on whether or not we bring up the consequences of that viz primaries or whatever
themallkrampus.bsky.social
There’s also just the plain fact that it’s a no win discourse here because “compelled party loyalty & message discipline by the purse strings so people don’t piss into the tent” is a non-starter on a website populated by relatively radical middle class people who want to control the party via piss

We’re doing agitprop discourse again and I do think one somewhat overlooked element ought to be pretty apparent to derive from “the GOP have all these despicable pieces of shit” and “the limited lib and progressive efforts are guys like [pick em], who [is a/are despicable piece[s] of shit]!” posts

Proposing a bill to pay The Troops to fuck with Mike Johnson is admittedly very funny
fritschner.bsky.social
A few minutes ago in the House:

- Speaker Mike Johnson officially cancels votes next week, extending the House recess through a fourth week

- House Republicans block Democrats from passing a bill to pay the troops during the shutdown, ensuring they will miss paychecks next week
House Press Gallery: During today's pro forma session, the Clerk read a message from the Speaker designating Tuesday, October 14 through Sunday, October 19 as a district work period. Punchbowl's Briana Reilly: House gaveled in and out of its pro forma just now w/o recognizing Rep Elfreth, who was seeking to UC a mil pay bill from Rep Sykes.

Elfreth told reporters after that House Dems stand “ready and willing to take” up standalone legislation to pay troops.

Doing in one sense the Lord’s work by hiding the prospective massive tax cost from middle class professionals so that they‘re still enthusiastic to pull the Donkey lever but in another sense obscuring exactly what we’re talking about for any HC reform

It's a huge part of your total compensation. Just enormous.

The reason people THINK employer coverage is significantly less expensive than ACA coverage is because around 75% of the premium cost is typically PAID BY THE EMPLOYER.

ACA tax credits effectively take the place of the employer's share of ESI premiums.

I find this deeply disconcerting for exactly the reasons you’re thinking in addition to just finding it quite funny

My mother is sharing old pictures in the group chat and I have come to the conclusion that, were it technically possible in 1982 to be an Instagram marathon girlie, this would have been a thing

well, it’s neither good nor bad news really because it’s going to really suck in the former case and in a strict sense that second one is what people are trying to accomplish by doing the brain equivalent of sticking a fork into an itchy cast
themallkrampus.bsky.social
The good news is that all the relevant bad things are in the process of happening and there’s nothing we can do about it and the bad news is all this ideation about disciplining the people you hold responsible for your bad brain chemicals is mostly just generating more bad brain chemicals

Going to have to find the “deserts are the fakest cope imaginable but predictable consequences are real and at this point mostly already inexorable“ post yet again because the discourse will not stop

Would.
