Oof. I hope it passes quickly.

This is rambling nonsense... which is to be expected from a philosophy major.

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

Mostly just saltines. If your stomach can handle some carbonation, Sprite Chill is pretty great when I'm nauseous.

It's pretty fucking awful. I don't get what anyone sees in this trainwreck of a show.

I really enjoyed Tron: Legacy. Great cyberpunk aesthetics and Michael Sheen was highly entertaining as Castor Zeus.

My boss: so how's our fourth quarter looking?

Me, the sales manager at the company that makes inflatable frog suits: well, you're never going to believe this, but

Untamed Worlds is really nicely laid out. Daggerheart is well done. The Whispering Vault is pretty intuitive for a 90s game about once mortals walking through the guts of world spanning worms to capture and imprison rogue gods.

I got so sick of the sewers.

The Nos kind of suck to play.

I'm a big fan of Daggerheart. It does a lot of things very, very well.

Honestly I think it's grounds for a pardon. Not under this administration but in a sane world not run by paedos.

Someone doesn't know the difference between psychopathy and psychotic.
thesocialjusticegm.bsky.social
They're not because psychopathy isn't a real diagnosis, dipshit! Too bad you're trying to sell your bullshit to someone who has a degree in psychology.

KILL THE NAZI is FREE: our BADASS system (Overgrowth, Splatter League) distilled down to a business card! Download it, share it, upload your playthroughs, message us, and tell us what you did! After all, we fight fascists through community! #TTRPGs madness-heart-games.itch.io/kill-the-nazi
Art card featuring a stylized, socialist realist portrait of a worker throwing a Molotov cocktail at a figure in a suit with a long red tie. Text reads "KILL THE NAZI! A Micro-BADASS Game for 1 GM & 2-3 Players"

Ableist shitwaffle thinks every Right Winger is a diagnosable psychopath unaware that evil is a choice. Much like idiocy.
notallme.bsky.social
Yes, you do. When you have Antisocial Personality Disorder or psychopathy like most right-wingers...
thesocialjusticegm.bsky.social
Says the moron claiming all Right Wingers have APD or psychopathy without realizing that they are the same from different linguistic generations of psychology terms while scoffing at a term like evil.

Evil exists. Sadism and callousness do not require a mental illness. They require a choice.
