Trump on immigrants: "They send up their worst people. They send up people that are criminals. They send up people from jails. And the best ones they send are people that don't work very hard and that are on a social form of welfare."

Can you help us, even just with an RT?

I'm off work for a couple of months and looking for an in-person volunteering post for about half a day a week starting now to give a bit of shape to my week.
Buongiorno!
Abbiamo i porcini ma anche la pioggia! ☔️☔️☔️
As you can imagine, this activity has caused some perplexity here. The only flags I see are Ukrainian and Palestinian. The fishmonger wanted to know what they are frightened of. I had no answer.
Indeed. We have heavy rain here this morning but it has enhanced the earthy, autumnal smells in the market. 🍂🍁🧡🍄‍🟫🦊
First of the precious autumn treasure here in Turin.
So pleased that it went well.

Trump is slashing billions from cancer research, putting life-saving work at risk. We can step in: bring the fired US cancer scientists to the UK to continue their vital work. I’ve signed a petition asking Keir Starmer to act - will you? 38d.gs/nfah

Having another one of my regular treatments tomorrow to keep the cancer at bay, which always makes me ill for a couple of weeks, so any support, either via kofi ko-fi.com/annelouiseav... or my patreon is very, very welcome, and enables me to keep writing and creating.

Have I mentioned here on 🦋 how much I adore these Shell Nature Studies? The concept of an oil company using nature to promote itself may be troublesome today, but it speaks of a period when art and commercialism (c.f. the lithographs in Lyons' Corner Houses) co-existed harmoniously in Britain.

I love this; I too am wearied by summer and socialising.
An excellent day to subscribe!

Anne Louise Avery's followers will know that her beloved mother, who was also a clever and talented writer, is still very much-missed. 🕊

I'm sure that @annelouiseavery.bsky.social has a copy of it already, but I wanted to share this gem that I came across in a local newspaper.

Late afternoon & Wolf was showing a tired Pine Marten the shells he had collected on the beach that morning. Spindle shells & sting winkles, netted dog whelks & Baltic tellins & wentletraps like strange spiral staircases made of sea bone. You can have 'em all, said Wolf, gruffly.
