It's all well and good if DFAS employees are still working because they're funded by the DWWCF, but it's a) a holiday weekend and b) the civilians processing pay in the services are probably furloughed at the moment

Mid-month pay is gonna be late, assuming it comes. Gives Congress another two weeks to pass a Pay The Troops bill or figure out appropriations.

So this is interesting- there may be a legal path to transfer some monies to cover pay but a) this specific use might still be debatable and b) $8bn might sound like a lot but it won’t cover these costs for long. Active Duty payroll plus retirements is ~$190bn a year so this maybe gets us two weeks.

The DoD is allowed to transfer this money per statute apparently (though this is outside of my area). The CR in March upped it to 8 billion.

Hi hello, basketball and lacrosse player here. I don't know about hockey but you are 100% correct about bball and lax. They def share many principles especially wrt defense. That's also why you see a curious number of NCAA lax players using grad seasons to play bball, like Pat Spencer

not the point but I'd like to know when federal law enforcement started carrying 9mm carbines with sliding stocks...I think this is a CZ Scorpion but it's hard to tell with the video quality

I also suspect that Miller doesn't realize the political blowback he will receive if the public perceives an Insurrection Act declaration to be baseless. Martial law is antithetical to the principles upon which this country was founded
