I like the lady horses best,
how they make it all look easy,
like running 40 miles per hour
is as fun as taking a nap, or grass.
I like their lady horse swagger,
after winning. Ears up, girls, ears up!
But mainly, let’s be honest, I like
that they’re ladies. As if this big
dangerous animal is also a part of me,
that somewhere inside the delicate
skin of my body, there pumps
an 8-pound female horse heart,
giant with power, heavy with blood.

• support and defend the Constitution;
• bear true faith and allegiance to it; and
• well and faithfully discharge his duties

Really. Just a little.

The place was called Italian Home Cooking. Had about seven tiny tables, always a line. It’s been gone for about 30 yrs.
They closed in August to make their pesto base. The AC poured fresh basil & garlic out onto Carmine St. all month.
Their minestrone could heal heartbreak.

We’re still living with the effects of the Confederacy being gathered into the arms of a desperate, reactionary GOP of the 1960s.

Sixties era Rs still tied themselves to Lincoln.

Famously MLK jr and all US anti-racists were Rs. It was once a righteous party.

I don’t know what to tell you.
My mother, also R, b. 1920, 9 yrs after Gov. Mills dad, was no pushover. Always a feminist, pro-civil rights, bodily autonomy, gay rights etc.
She’d never have tolerated the current Rs.

She died in ‘98 just as RW kooks dominated the AM band.
They disgusted her.

Ye olde time-y New England Rs were often more liberal than centrist Ds today.
Rs of that era wanted Civil Rights & progressive taxation, a la Ike.
One, ME-R Congressman, Stanley Tupper, helped make Medicare a reality.
