Fascinating world of ancient #glass: This delicate #Roman blue and white marbled glass unguentarium, a vessel to hold oil/perfume, was made from translucent dark blue glass with trails in opaque white. Dating 1st century AD.

Ulspipa: This hillfort is about 12 km west of Tønsberg, on an oval shaped and forest covered rocky hilltop with a very nice view to the south and south east. A small footpath leads up from a local farm to the hillfort. #HillfortsWednesday More:

the weekend’s exploration round Small Down Knoll, Somerset. Not even signposted from the road but actually quite impressive. Great views over the levels and Glastonbury tor, when a bit less grey at least.

Requiem for a hillfort

Until the 1960s, the outline of Madmarston Iron Age hillfort #Oxfordshire was defined by fieldbanks and hedgerows

Since then it has been sadly obliterated by agriculture ☹️

A slightly unusual one, Bincknoll Camp,
Realised later the problem i was having figuring this out: a thin tapered shape that was heavily modified by a Norman Motte & Bailey site
