In their edited volume, Drs. Allen, @amkavanagh.bsky.social , and @trionacheile.bsky.social critique the one-sided narratives within social studies education to attend to marginalized voices. Read Ms. Kadi, Ms. Zuniga, and Dr. Christ’s review here: journals.sagepub.com/pb-assets/cm...

A DCU study has found significant burnout and poor mental health among Irish teachers, as well as a large proportion of teachers being “unlikely” to remain in the profession long-term.

A huge thank you to the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe for inviting me to speak on what dealing with crises can look like in the classroom.

Given that our kids' experience of the world is shaped by crises, it is important that we discuss how can history education respond.

Great to be opening-up the afternoon at the OHTE conference with an opportunity for a range of colleagues - including @trionacheile.bsky.social - to explore forms of crisis applicable in a range of contexts (and also to problematicize the notion of crisis).

It’s too bad this is so timely, but we argue civic education must be replaced.
