I am not very au courant with the music business, but my understanding is that Garbage is full of music industry veterans, who know the biz well + have a big audience already. Butch Vig is a very well-known producer and engineer, for instance. If he can't make it, nobody can.

Will be quite interested to see if Katie Wilson wins in Seattle. She isn't particularly charismatic, does not have an ethnic group to rally, and the local elites (Seattle Times) hate her.

Mamdani is going to win. The question will now be, "Can you reproduce this?" It's doubtful. He's talented. But it's possible, first of all, if you remember all politics is local, and the more local you get - the more people recognize you - the more things like age and parties cease to matter.
