I’ve been seeing quite a few Monarchs lately, but this was the first time I’ve seen this beauty.
🦋🌸
A Queen Butterfly on a pink Cosmos. The upper side of their wings are a deep orange with the black edges and little white spots, more white spots curves across the wings. Blurry flowers, other foliage and trees are in the background. A Queen Butterfly and a Skipper share a pink zinnia. The underside of the Queen is similar to the Monarch and Viceroy with its own little details. The stem of the flower and another stem and leaves are visible on the left side and the background is an overhead door and a little bit of awning.

Sometimes when you catch a Ladder-backed Woodpecker in profile you get to see some little white heart-shaped spots along the wings, and when you get real lucky you catch one with his red crown feathers extended in a feisty "Fuck You" to the harassing Acorn Woodpecker off frame to the left. Zen birding.
