I’m this on every platform you can think of, except for OnlyFans. Words at D Magazine (Arts, City Hall, State Lege, Education, etc.) and one bathroom stall in Waco. Prone to environmental embrittlement.

Truth. It's also little comfort to know that Texas politics has been a bit juvenile for a while.

Probably much like the Dallas Morning News’ Everton Bailey, I’ve spent the better part of two weeks chasing down a rumor that Eric Johnson will resign his post as mayor so he can run for something else.
Here's what we do and do not know:

I got @jesszafarris.bsky.social’s new book and I need to tell you it’s making my word nerd heart so happy. Etymology is my jam, probably because of all the spelling bees.
The cover of “Useless Etymology: Offbeat word origins for curious minds,” by Jess Zafarris.

We could shut this whole "antifa is paid" thing down real fast if we'd all commit, as journalists, to asking what antifa means. As in, what the word actually means, what actual words it's a portmanteau for, and what those words mean.

Wait ... isn't spirit open now?

I have five stories cooking in various stages of completion. One of them is a little more important than the others, but it's also the one that is giving me the most fits.

In order to have some quality control, it will require you to sign in to Google. However, I am not storing that information. I do ask at the end of the survey if I can contact you, and provide a place for you to share any contact information. That part is entirely optional.

Hey, teacher friends, I am conducting the first of what may be several surveys meant to gauge the state of teaching in Texas. If you wouldn't mind taking this survey, it would help me better craft stories through the next year.

In this FB group I’m in, a woman said she and her husband were thinking about having kids. Out of nearly 180 comments, a good 2/3 told her not to do it in Texas because it’s too dangerous.

CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

One time I went to a KU-Mizzou game at Arrowhead and watched a girl chug 5 Four Lokos in the parking lot, then saw her puke it up almost at my feet in the stands later. It looked like muppet barf.

Can we just skip to the part where 102-year-old Ken Burns is doing a documentary series about all of this and people are bringing out their grandpa’s frog costumes to donate to the local museum?

New style rule, no matter what the AP Stylebook says. It’s “anti-fascism” or “anti-fascist(s)” on first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and infinity references.
Let’s quit using the shorthand.
