the 80s had a high density of celebrities whose authenticity was hard to figure out, as a kid. like, was Mr. T a real guy? he was like that in shows/movies but also in interviews? or pee wee, elvira, max headroom, various wrestlers. even alf was on celebrity squares. it was a confusing time.

it goes w/o saying that it's up to maine to pick their leaders, but i'm entitled to opine on the general direction of the party. maybe a primary helps, maybe it doesn't. maybe a septuagenarian lawyer is better candidate, maybe she isn't. these things are unknowable. all i know is my own preferences.

i'm not trying to play 11D electability chess here, just taking my own side in an argument. my politics are clear-spoken anti-rich/naming your enemies & the party's in dire need of good new messengers. if the decrepit conflict-averse corporate wing of the party is recruiting her, that's a negative.

nice. i enjoyed the food for the most part, but for whatever reason felt like i never saw a leafy vegetable. nonetheless, they know their way around a potato.

i spent a few months over there so i really got to get into the whole deal, supermarket-wise. they don't use whatever treatment we do, that strips the outer layer of eggs off, so theirs don't need refrigeration. (they were in the aisle with paper products.)
