Punchbowl's Briana Reilly: House gaveled in and out of its pro forma just now w/o recognizing Rep Elfreth, who was seeking to UC a mil pay bill from Rep Sykes.

I know we shouldn't doomscroll but the quality of the doom is pretty incredible and varied. Just ... all kinds of doom. Doom smorgasbord. It's like the Golden Corral of Doom. It’s like the Buc-ee’s of Fucking Awful, and you can find 32 kinds of fucked up, all made from scratch daily.

Sigh… Houston’s Montrose neighborhood reinstalled its rainbow crosswalks. Some people (who aren’t even from here) got big mad, and those people caught the attention of Gov. Greg Abbott. Abbott, in turn, told TxDOT to withhold funding from cities and counties that continue to display “political ideologies” in their streets. This would presumably include our own Oak Lawn neighborhood, where the crosswalks were just touched up. It must be nice to govern a state where nothing—absolutely nothing—else is happening, allowing you to focus your attention where it counts, on things like rainbow crosswalks. At any rate, free idea: Since the state says it’s OK with taxpayer-funded religious displays now, have a few LGBTQIA-friendly ministers head to Oak Lawn, bless those crosswalks as symbols of “God’s everlasting promise to protect mankind” or something, and bam, the crosswalks stay.

I've been wondering why Dominion Voting Systems suddenly reached settlements with Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and One America News.

Turns out, it's been purchased by a Republican-owned election tech firm that insisted on it, per Axios.
