The news of a ceasefire brings a much-needed, long-overdue glimmer of hope for children and families in Gaza.

UNICEF is ready - we have a plan in place, supplies on the move, and a team on the ground providing children with life-saving supplies and services.
Maisara, 13, reacts to the ceasefire news in Gaza: I felt happy the moment I heard
the news about the ceasefire. Finally, I will return to my city in the north, because like all children, we are tired of war. We want to live our childhood again. What makes me even happier is that we will
no longer suffer from hunger. Rasha, 13, reacts to the ceasefire news in Gaza: I miss my cousins. And we want to go visit them in the cemetery in East Bureij camp. And we want
to go see our families in Gaza. Since the ceasefire was announced, we have all
been happy.

Israeli strikes on Gaza City and other parts of the Gaza Strip continue. We call on Israel to ensure full protection of the lives of all civilians.

For the sake of all children in Gaza, this war must end now.

Statement from UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell: https://unicef.link/3KG01sT
In the last two years, a staggering 64,000 children have reportedly been killed or maimed across the Gaza Strip in a devastating war that is an affront to our shared humanity. It’s been two years since the horrific attacks on children and communities in Israel by Hamas and other armed groups.

Killing, maiming and abducting children are grave violations of their rights.

Every child, everywhere, has the right to safety, care and protection.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell: It’s been two years since the horrific attacks on children and communities in Israel by Hamas and other armed groups. The pain of 7 October endures, for the families of children who lost their lives, children torn from their families, and those living with the trauma of their experience. Killing, maiming and abducting children are unconscionable acts and grave violations of their rights.
