democrats of all stripes should be rallying around kat abughazaleh asap. it doesnt matter where you stand ideologically. trying to jail dissenters is fundamentally unamerican and 100% fascist. democratic leaders at all levels should be making noise about it. you dont need a poll or focus group.

My momma bestie is my auntie
My auntie friend that go to her church is also my auntie
My 75 year old cousin... is also my auntie

"Auntie" is what happens when you understand the expansive proposition of family

"That's not your aunt" is what happens when you live outside of restorative community
When Harold Washington ran for mayor in Chicago in 1983, the Republican candidate suddenly became a viable candidate. Bernie Epton's campaign slogan was "Epton - Before It's Too Late". The stuff I heard then is very reminiscent of the attacks on Mamdani.

Speaking as a dude who has a yearly family reunion, "aunt" and "uncle" fill a role, what the fuck are you supposed to call all those other older people you're vaguely related to, do you think there's someone running around with an org chart saying who's a second cousin thrice removed or something

BREAKING: An ICE agent pointed a gun at a protester and said, “Bang, bang. You’re dead, liberal.”

The man he threatened was a U.S. citizen — and a military veteran.

Eric is a Missouri congressman.

He is quite literally dependent on the federal government for his paycheck, his housing, and his free healthcare. He’s a tax recipient.

Contest every race. Have a candidate in every race on every ballot in every county in every state.

Run even if you know you can’t win. Run because you know you can’t win.

No seat uncontested. Bring the fight to every ballot.

Sounds like it’s the GOP that’s playing politics with people’s livelihoods. Hold the line, Dems.

If you have it please donate cash to the food banks. $10 in their hands will feed more people than the $10 worth of canned goods you can buy for retail prices. Also check on your elders. Many of them will not admit they rely on these programs so grocery gift cards or a surprise bag of staples

HEADS UP, #IL03!

The Illinois Department of Insurance has called on insurance companies to provide relief to federal employees during the republican government shutdown. The decision ensures federal employees don't lose their insurance coverage.

42 million children and families could go hungry if SNAP funding runs out at the end of this month. The Trump Administration has the power to change that!

I joined @repjahanahayes.bsky.social in urging the USDA to immediately fund SNAP.

On this day in 1984: Wearing a No. 23 Chicago Bulls jersey for the first time — in front of 13,913 fans at Chicago Stadium — Michael Jordan scored 16 points in his NBA debut, a 109-93 victory against the Washington Bullets. Also there — the San Diego Chicken.

A big thing I'm starting to think about is: What will ICE do in the winter in Chicago, when it's cold and fewer people are out on the streets for them to kidnap? How much harder might they try to enter businesses, schools, libraries, and homes? We need to be planning for them to shift gears.

Is it too early to ask: What if Congress never meets again? What if the President just decides by himself, with the help of private donors, what he wants to spend money on or not?
