Client had recently survived his first Buc-ees experience and man…
You never forget the first time you enter that bright, overwhelming, beaver themed labyrinth!

So, like any sane person, you gotta take it out on Buc-ee himself

Commission work. A flat colored Buc-ee is seen crucified on a wooden crucifix in the middle of a photograph of a Buc-ees interior. Around is a plethora of Buc-ees merch. Close by, a big plush Buc-ee stares at the drawn Buc-ee with souless eyes

When I got him, I had used he/him pronouns assuming he was male but when I took a look I didn’t see boxing glove like pedipalps so I assumed he was female- turns out he just wasn’t mature. But now he is, and now the clock is ticking 😔

Woke up to Callisto out of her tunnel! I was so happy to see her especially after her molt. She looked pretty small still, and I told her I was excited to see her grow.

And then I found out Callisto is actually a male
I so much less time with him!! I’m so sad
Oh well! Thats ok, we’ll make it count

But please, do continue to use GenAI slop thumbnails for your YouTube videos, or your album art, or your book covers or whatever else. I'll continue to refuse to watch/listen/read any of them, knowing already they're not worth the time & that you're a disappointing lazy hack.

‘Children's book illustrator isn't a job anymore.’
I've been out of work for a while now. I made children's book illustrations, stock art, and took various art commissions.

Now I have several maxed out credit cards and use a donation bin for food. I haven't had a steady contract in over a year. two weeks ago, when a client who has switched to AI found out about this he gave me $50 out of "a sense of guilt." Basically pity for the fact that Illustrator, as a job, does not exist anymore.

It was my birthday recently and I sincerely considered not living anymore.
The worst part of all is that the parents who once supported me fully in being an artist sent me an AI generated picture of a caricature of themselves holding a birthday cake with my name spelled incorrectly.

The turning point was a messy divorce leaving me and my other partner scrambling. We have had to rely on credit cards, a roommate who is no longer living with us, overtime, and a personal loan just to get by. Now, things are too much for us to handle. My partner is working damn near as much as physically possible, and I can only do so so much. I am disabled, mental health and physical pain. I do art full time and don't make a lot. Credit cards, loan payments, mortgage, vet bills, car damage, medical and more. Were truly struggling.
