"With the latest resurgence of military wargaming now spilling over into business wargaming, I knew that for my second wargame design effort, I had to dip my feet into designing a business wargame."

i entered turn 7 with 19 victory points (VP) and three possible ways to secure that one missing VP in the headline phase and seal the win:
1. camp david accords (1 VP)
2. duck and cover (3 VP)
3. middle east scoring (4 VP)
so i was feeling quite cocky 😏

1st time winning as the US with the AI opp at +9 influence handicap 🤖

Very dramatic end! Thought I had it in the bag with my Middle East Scoring but it got neutralized by Muslim Revolution! 🤯

Fortunately the USSR then played the Summit in my favor! 💪🏾

The idea is to create a command language that allows for a simpler approach than having to click through a bunch of GUIs…it is much easier to type what you want to do than click around with a mouse. Additionally with CLI you can create a script that runs a series of command all at once.

Article 5 is of particular interest. I have tried over a few years (before the rise of LLMs) to put some effort in the development of a common wargaming language that would allow for CLI in simulations rather than the typical mouse operations.
"The argument that's shared by both professional and academic wargamers at the moment is that immersion is what makes wargaming a better method than alternatives under certain conditions."

In the Fall of 2022, we experimented with a one-day "showcase" that was a full slate of presentations of professional wargames, and their design & execution

Take That Hill (UK Fight Club) was our most-watched video from that year!

"With disaster wargaming, I kinda went Kobayashi Maru in that it's designed to where I hope you fail and chances are you will fail, but it's okay and you learn from it 'cause failure is our greatest teacher."

What exactly would a CLI offer that the typical mouse operations cannot? (Explain to me like I'm a CS degree dropout)
"It was natural, therefore, for military operators to favor damning the torpedoes and rushing to defend the Philippines, and this perspective might well have held sway if not for the wargaming and analysis done at the Naval War College."

…and I think making an outreach to develop wargaming and simulation in US academia is the next big step. While we have Game Development programs at NYU, we need additional programs that are oriented on military simulation and digital wargaming both in the kinetic and cyber domains
