I got to play this at Connections this year, and I second this assessment. It's a good game for an introduction to modern air combat having the right level of abstraction to be both representative enough, playable, and to leave enough room for a good discussion.
"IADS: The Game" is one of the games I enjoyed learning this year. It is #wargame designed to be fast-paced and easy to learn for professional military education. It is a reminder that games don't have to be complex to be good. #wargaming 🎲

Gaming the American challenge after the NSS
Back in March, I wrote a deliberately provocative piece that suggested "wargaming must account for a new and unexpected “Red”: Donald Trump’s new United States of America." With the recent release of the new US National Security Strategy (NSS), that concern seems validated. The discussion below highlights my own views on the Trump Administration's emerging strategic doctrine, the particular implications of that for my own country (Canada), and finally some more brief thoughts on what we need to be (war)gaming if we are to support an effective strategic response.

The U.S. Air Force wants a massive AI-based digital wargaming system. But the U.S. military's history of giant computer sims isn't a happy one. Will this time be different? My latest for Defense News.
