🏆 ‘And the Winner of UK Small Civil Engineering Project of Year for 2025, will sadly not be going to the 3 man Team who completed this road repair in our locale yesterday!’ 🤦🏻‍♂️ - or indeed the surveyor who set the parameters!

Waterloo, couldn't escape if I wanted to.

Mainly because I have a station visitor's pass, and Network Rail wouldn't be pleased if I walked off with it.

I had an ace day adjudicating at the National Railway Heritage Awards. Winners to be revealed at the awards ceremony soon!

Here's a 1908 image of the original City & South London Railway island platform, which would have been woefully inadequate for traffic levels today. Even when the tunnels were expanded and the line extended to Camden in 1924, the cramped island platform remained (NRM collection)
A seemingly posed shot of the City & South London railway terminus at Euston in 1908 looking along the island platform towards the narrow entrance/exit. On the left a C&SLR electric loco stands in the platform seemingly 'light' with no cars attached and on the right can be seen two cars of a train. Several staff are standing, presumably gate attendants and drivers.

#OnThisDay 58 years ago the new northbound Bank Branch Northern Line platform opened at Euston. This allowed the original northbound side of the 1907 island platform to be in-filled giving rise to today's wide southbound platform. Poster: @ltmuseum buff.ly/yY5xyIi
Poster where the top half is a 3-D diagram of the complex of 3 Tube lines, concourse and passageways at Euston and the bottom half is a lengthy description of the improvements.

NFF on the prep and the shunt has been completed into P2 at Guildford. I have two of the oldest of the grand dames on our network today: 455863 & 455852. First on my card is 2G10 to Waterloo via Cobham.

Godolphin clearly came up trumps for you. Have to admire tenacity of some NT properties, including one I volunteered for, who reverse engineered servant records, by launching & promoting servant focused projects in local communities, & collating family history researcher enquiries to build database.
