PBS has lost $1.1 billion in funding.

Although it would take over 18 million new subscribers to cover the loss, ANY subscribers to PBS Passport will help.

It is only $5 a month.

And there are many shows on PBd you may be interested in!

EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

I hadn't heard her actually sing before, but I knew there is no way Hyacinth could sing that poorly if Patricia Routledge wasn't extremely talented!

Thank you for sharing that! 🎶🎵

Last big* concert I went to, we tried to hang out in the parking lot, next to our cars, until the line went down, but security didn't like that.

Which I kinda get, but making people get in the endless line doesn't seem much better.

We should probably subsidize some domestic manufacturing, but for national defense reasons, not economic.

Flatware is definitely not manufacturing we need to bring back; if we weren't able to import any for 15 years, resturants would need to adapt but even there I don't think it'd be devastating.

There is a problem where evangelicals realize their world view is wrong, but, instead of actually building a new world view, just reslot all the pieces into the same structure.

@atfteachersunion.bsky.social local #1420 took unequivocally correct stand to inform their teachers and their communities. Mr. McCall can go kick rocks

New Mexico Boycott McCalls Pumpkin Patch.

AFT LOCAL 1420

@atfteachersunion

In Response to McCall's Pumpkin Patch

It has come to our attention that McCall's Pumpkin Patch is publicly attacking our union for informing our members that co-owner and Torrance County Commissioner Kevin McCall voted to extend the Torrance County Jail's ICE contract without debate. We are posting the message we sent to our members in full here to demonstrate that the message was based on credible news sources.

The Albuquerque Teachers Federation would like to point out that in a recent Facebook post, McCall's Pumpkin Patch mischaracterizes Kevin McCall's vote on the Torrance County Commission. McCall did not vote to "keep the community jail open," he specifically voted to extend the jail's contract with ICE. For more info please see: www.koat.com/article/immigration-ice-migrants-new-mexico/64301345

Our job as educators is to serve all students who attend our schools regardless of their immigration status. This mission is in keeping with the NM State Constitution. The fear of ICE detainment is causing great distress to many in our community and even leading to some families keeping their students home from school.

One of our jobs as an educators' union is to inform our members of news that affects their ability to do their jobs and serve our community. We will continue to do that. ATF internal union stewards email, sent Friday 9/26/25:

McCall's Prison Patch?

Every Fall, some APS educators plan field trips to McCall's Pumpkin Patch in Moriarty. If you're not familiar with Kevin McCall, the owner of the farm, he is Vice Chair of the Torrance County Commission. As such, he has proven to be an unquestioning supporter (literally) of using the Torrance County Detention Center to house people detained by ICE. The jail has been the scene of various documented human rights violations against detainees, but Mr. McCall and the other commissioners excuse that in the name of economic gain for both the county and private interests. Here's what Source NM reported:

"Torrance County's elected officials unanimously voted to extend the contract that allows U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to incarcerate asylum seekers at the Torrance County Detention Facility in Estancia.

Commissioners Ryan Schwebach, Kevin McCall and Samuel Schropp on Wednesday morning voted in favor of allowing County Manager Janice Barela to sign an amendment extending the contract by four months.

The commissioners held the vote in a matter of about 30 seconds, without any discussion: sourcenm.com/2024/04/25/torrance-county-commission-votes-to-extend-ice-contract/

Spooky stuff. Beware rotten pumpkins.

Strongly suggest humorous signs for the next protest, particularly if they are making fun of Hegseth and Noem.

If Trump decides they are jokes, he'll fire them. And I don't think the Senate will be as quick to confirm their replacements.

Again, everyone, I cannot stress this enough: Seize your joys. Don't live in doomerism. That won't change anything, and it'll simply destroy you. And there are people who love you who will be bereft when you crash out.

So in addition to societal things like getting licenses yanked, we need options so that elderly people can keep doing things to maintain their physical and mental health.

I had to reverify my card info on the site, but the payment did go through this time. 😩

The article itself is much better than this blurb, and parts do question the credibility of the "official" statement of events.
The time and location of the shooting weren't immediately known. No law enforcement officials were hurt.

McLaughlin said the woman who was shot
"drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds." But Larry Merritt, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman, said she was found near 39th Street and South Kedzie Avenue and taken in fair condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ have not independently verified ICE's account of the events leading up to the shooting.

Mostly the combination of the article, where it was being edited from, and the fact that the changes were basically adding in typos.

I am perversely proud to discover that @postingtreyf.bsky.social has been labeled "Rude" at the account level by Bluesky, but if you, like me, have that label set to "Hide", you're going to need to change that if you want Jewsky's self described "vulgar id" back on your skyline.
