The Last Ringbearer is actually a pretty good riff on the Lord of the Rings that Thiel obviously didn't understand. It reimagines Mordor as a technologically advanced and MULTICULTURAL society that is specifically modeled on the Abbasid Caliphate facing eradication by racist Europeans.

A reminder that Peter Thiel loves a piece of Tolkien fan-fiction that paints Sauron and Mordor as the good guys because they're a "technological civilization", while the elves, hobbits and men are bad because they're all "mystical and environmental"...
