There's a bunch of new followers this weekend who I think clicked because of a poetry post so let me introduce myself. I'm Jeff, a Creative Director & photographer in Dirt City, Alberta. I do share poetry here but mostly my pictures (including NSFW ones), and some of my silly little thoughts.

If I see you posting AI slop, it's an instant block. Even if you think it's cute or says a lot about society. If you are purporting that some AI slop is real news, I will report you for misinformation, and then block you. Sloppers should be marginalised.

Which is to say, no, not real but also not ai slop.

These movies are still getting made, sort of. They're now prestige series on streaming services. Often with 2 hours of story padded out to fill 6-8 episodes so they don't perform nearly as well, either as art or commerce.

We need to bring back the 80s erotic thriller/ neo noir. Like American Gigolo doesn’t SOUND promising but it kinda rocked? Great casting of Hector Elizondo and Bill Duke in key roles, Richard Gere leaning on the chilly nastiness that is his real gift as a leading man.

The Sons of 1977 ALCS. The Mariners and Blue Jays are expansion mates, born in 1977 as new AL clubs. Toronto wasn't part of MLB's US licensing agreement—they had their own team-labeled retail program which generated massive revenue, selling 120,000 caps in Vancouver alone (3,000 miles from Toronto)

I wouldn't say I'm anxious about either of those things, but statistically one is far more likely than the other based on my tastes.

Today's portraits of the day are of @feistywaters.com. Last month she was gifted a crazy cool bespoke Sesame Street dress by local Edmonton designer Elizabeth Ann Vintage. There's even custom embroidered bows. It really is remarkable.

How uncool am I?
I'm far more likely to die of a licorice overdose than heroin.

There's a ChubbyEmu video of a guy who did the exact same thing, but with licorice, which is toxic in those quantities.

It's from a Terry Fox run commercial. CGI'd his face onto a mocap actor. Done with the family's permission.

It will come as a shock to no one other than Führerin Smith that all of the B roll in the GOA's new anti-teacher ads appears to be American off an American site. They're so fucking lazy these fascists.

I'm so fucking angry that my tax dollars are going towards those awful (in every sense of the word) government of alberta ads bashing teachers.

Lee Greenwood is objectively a terrible human let alone artist. I'm laughing so hard at the notion that he could anchor an actual Superbowl halftime show. Maybe in 1974.

I'm super on top of things and bought all our halloween candy while at Costco this week. The downside of that is I'm pretty sure it just means I'm gonna eat all the candy myself over the next few weeks and still have to run out in a panic on the 31st to buy some.

Things are starting to get chilly out there. Make sure you've got your flannels so you can stay cozy. Today's portraits of the day are Auria in my old apartment.

When I was in film school I was president of the Motion Picture Arts student society and I got to be Érik Canuel's chaperone for 4 days while we hosted him for screenings and workshops. That dude could PARTY. I learned so much in those 96 hours.
