Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

At a soccer game today with my daughter, several parents mentioned witnessing arrests like these with their kids when driving around DC. This is happening daily.
yaelschacher.bsky.social
And then telling others that they need to move along because bystanders are blocking traffic rather than the arrest blocking traffic
yaelschacher.bsky.social
And being so sure he’s got the law on his side!?
yaelschacher.bsky.social
Can you imagine being that officer threatening a man for speaking
yaelschacher.bsky.social
Yeah, it’s not for kids

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

Ok well now I’m gonna watch Looking for Mr. Goodbar! RIP Diane Keaton who I admired for being hilarious, smart and a feminist after all.

So it’s clear that the charge against his father for “reckless driving” was drummed up to make it seem like there was a reason to arrest him besides his undocumented status, which there wasn’t.

ICE left David, a 17-year-old boy, stranded on the side of Interstate 20 after pulling over his immigrant father, Hector, in Mississippi.

David began running in the scorching sun after the car and watched as it disappeared from sight—soon headed to a Louisiana ICE prison.

Here's their story.

A 17-year-old watched as ICE arrested his immigrant father, Hector, on I-20 in June. The family faces mounting legal fees and the risk of deportation.

I would suspect that it is THAT rather than any proof of gang ties that led to the targeting of this building.
yaelschacher.bsky.social
It may be that all were put up during or after the raid.

I think the fact that some of the people in the building received rental assistance for asylum seekers from the state should be a lead to follow.

UPDATE: Judge Perry issued an opinion explaining why she blocked the Texas National Guard deployment in Chicago.

She begins with Alexander Hamilton’s rejection of a “preposterous” idea that the Constitution lets a President deploy a State’s militia to a different State for political retribution. 🧵
OPINION AND ORDER
Since this country was founded, Americans have disagreed about the appropriate division
of power between the federal government and the fifty states that make up our Union. This
tension is a natural result of the system of federalism adopted by our Founders. And yet, not even
the Founding Father most ardently in favor of a strong federal government believed that one
state's militia could be sent to another state for the purposes of political retribution, calling such
a suggestion "inflammatory," and stating "it is impossible to believe that [a President] would employ such preposterous means to accomplish their designs." But Plaintiffs contend that such
an event has come to pass, and argue that National Guard troops from both Illinois and Texas
have been deployed to Illinois because the President of the United States wants to punish state elected officials whose policies are different from his own.

On the left is how the White House reacted to the Nobel Peace Prize announcement.

On the right is what President Trump posted about Maria Corina Machado back in January, just two weeks before nominations closed for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives.
He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.
The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.

Venezuelan democracy activist Maria Corina Machado and President-elect Gonzalez are peacefully expressing the voices and the WILL of the Venezuelan people with hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating against the regime. The great Venezuelan American community in the United States overwhelmingly support a free Venezuela, and strongly supported me. These freedom fighters should not be harmed, and MUST stay SAFE and ALIVE!

But the law says that you first consider the country that the foreign national requests and then any other country that will take them.
So this is also out of order.
