Even though, as @genogaron.bsky.social says, we have cats at home, I still travel over an hour to the cat sanctuary when possible.

Not to say pets are even remotely the same as having kids, but if I had a dollar for every time I asked my cats "What are you doing/what's do you have in your mouth", I'd have a decent start to their college funds...

My mom and stepdad always say they won't get any more pets. I respond with loving skepticism every time, having heard that many times over the years.
(My mom is largely responsible for my love of cats.)

Anyway, they found a kitten abandoned across from their house, and they're keeping him. 😂

It can be so hard leaving their cute little faces at the end of each shift, especially the longer they're in the adoption center and the more comfortable they feel with you.
