As a reminder to those new here or new to me (quite a few friends and colleagues are joining), I'm not kidding when I put in my profile "artist, tech-dude, music nerd, wonk... This is not a single issue account, so buckle up."

Strap in folks, I don't drive for comfort, I drive for purpose.
I hate doing that just because navigating PBX systems make me psychologically ultraviolent.

The fact that there were no counterprotests shows that Trumpism and MAGA barely exist outside of social media. This movement has gradually collapsed completely within the population. — It’s difficult to fill the real world with Trump government troll bots.
He is weirdly on brand for San Diego though. Like it's a "military" friendly city that also likes liberal tourism and parties. So this just feels ridiculously straightforward to that area. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same kind of thing happening in Monterey as well.
Swedish electro-pop EDM chanteuse Kissey Apslund. Woefully underrated. #art #artshare #drawing
I think your definition of extreme and mine have a significant delta; I thought I was excessive with nearly 1,400 notes. LOL
I periodically enjoy making a post meal digestif; This uses a really flavorful corn whiskey, Michelberger (A fantastic substitute for green chartreuse that's also good on its own), olalliberry shrub, huckleberry infused honey, and lavender/lemon soda. I haven't given it a name. #cocktails #mixology

I posted that we should remember small town protests in red states and got Well Actuallyed by several people who insisted ______ has suffered more and we should remember them.

This isn’t the Oppression Olympics. We need all hands, not just the purest and noblest.
Yeah, so this is why data brokers should be regulated into oblivion, and why firms that sell their customer data to them, should have contractual obligations to liquidate ALL C-level bonuses when their negligence results in a data breach...or jail time (I'm not picky on that part)
I'm an amateur policy wonk, and history is critical to understanding that. Food history is a key bit of human history, and revealing in more ways than one might expect...so I try to pass it around any chance I get. :)
Extra funny given that fish & chips (and tea) were Portuguese imports.

Reform UK are a bellend brigade.
Hornsby has always been a jazzer with hints of jam-band noodling and pop thrown in. His last 25 years are very out in the open about it too.
Interesting. How large is your vault? I consider mine sizeable but not as enormous as I hear some folks are.
Jury is still out for me, but I'm going to give it a few weeks.
I've recently been on a bender of experiments with both new kaleidoscopy scripts merged with texture building using acrylics (inks and paint) with brayers and palette knives.

Lots of unfinished, but promising ideas. #art #workinprigress #artshare
I've been an @obsidian.md user since MSFT bought up and wrecked Wunderlist, and I've not regretted it at all.

I just found out about notebooknavigator.com which is a beefed up UI/nav plugin, and I'm curious if anyone has tried it yet...before I take a real test drive.

I suspect that 30 plus percent is pretty much the entire MAGA contingent. This is the animus they voted on. They do not care about the constitutionality, the costs, or the impacts to them (let alone anyone else) that are negative. I
Wow. New Economist poll finds only 34% of Americans say ICE's use of force has been justified, vs 51% who say it's been excessive. And they oppose agents wearing masks by 52-35.

Yep, ICE is becoming a pariah agency, and that's gaining deep penetration in the culture:
ICE's military raids and masked kidnappings are resonating deeply/negatively in the cultural spaces we keep hearing Dems need to reach: Manosphere, Joe Rogan, country music, disengaged voters. That's rare and it gives Dems a big opening to engage.

Thoughts on this:

Let's be incredibly clear, it's going to become an imperative for anyone to understand how to check the veracity of anything that gets posted online, especially if it involves anything political or economic in terms of influence.

That is baseline.
A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

This absolutely rings true. Early on at @ucdavis.bsky.social , I was pretty much told point blank by a TA in the PS/IR dept that "you're going to get exposed to everything from neo-conservativism to neo-marxism" and told it's my job to figure out how to navigate that space meaningfully.
If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.
We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism.

The Trump administration has frozen or canceled nearly $28 billion primarily located in Democratic-led districts, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

RIP #DAngelo. "Black Messiah" is probably his least famous, but I consider most realized, work. The drawing was done very quickly in parallel pen.
I'd also add the FT (an A for journalism, a B- for most editorial) and The Hill (B for journalism, F- for editorial. If you are willing to hire John Solomon and Marc Thiessen for opinions, you have work to do on that front).
If we write off all news media, we’re playing into Trump’s hands. Some outlets are doing well while others stink.
In this installment of my free Stop the Presses newsletter, I give letter grades to major media outlets. See if you agree.
