This is exactly what I have alluded to when I wrote about the Soviet блат.
I was too young when I left to have been privy to some of similar situations in my family, though to this day I wonder what my parents thought was my understanding of things at 16.

In 1991, my turn somehow came up to be assigned an apartment (yay). It was in an old building and in a bad neighborhood, and everyone ahead of me on the list had said no. But I was getting married later that year. I wasn't about to say no.

I had to look up which party this patriot belongs to and sadly I guessed correctly.
It’s obviously OK to criticize Israel.
But when it becomes an obsession.
When it’s the only country you think shouldn’t exist.
When you blame Israel for 9/11, Charlie Kirk, and Jeff Epstein.
When you compare Israel to Nazi Germany.
You should look inward and address your antisemitism.

This should be one of the top examples of how NOT to make a list of movies or really anything for that matter.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!
