Re: Skrmetti and the ongoing attacks on trans youth and gender-affirming care, including in media outlets like NYT: This has never been about care or concern for young people.

Re-sharing our resource, We Must Fight In Solidarity With Trans Youth: bit.ly/SolidarityWithTransYouthBrief
Black text on a beige background, decorated with pale pink at the top and a sliver of pale blue at the bottom: "The attacks on trans youth and gender-affirming care have never been about care for young people. This is about enforcing racialized, gendered, cisheteronormative hierarchies through state-sanctioned and extralegal violence, all part of a white supremacist agenda.

"I felt this moment of betrayal." How a 15-month-old Instagram post cost one of the largest Asian American advocacy groups $250,000 in crucial funding — and why similar cuts are happening in silence across the progressive nonprofit world.

How a Single Instagram Post Cost One Nonprofit a Quarter of Its Budget
When a progressive group posted in support of Palestinians in Gaza, it saw funding evaporate. Similar fissures are reverberating across the nonprofit world.

We aren’t the first organization to lose funding over our solidarity with Palestine, and we know that we won’t be the last. 18MR remains bold in calling in the philanthropic sector. We call for funders to be our allies, not roadblocks, in this movement for justice.

From the federal government to philanthropy, repression against movement groups fighting for a free Palestine remains on the rise. 18 Million Rising lost $250K in funding for standing with Palestine. But we refuse to be silent in the face of genocide.

18MR will continue to call for an end to this genocide. We will fight each day for a free Palestine, and we want our community to be with us every step of the way.

This year marks the 83rd anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which led to the forced removal and incarceration of more than 125,000 Japanese Americans during World War II by the United States government.
Graphic with an excerpt from a Day of Remembrance Solidarity Statement for February 2025. There is a black and white photograph of Japanese Americans walking towards a barracks-style building at an incarceration camp during WWII, while a row of US soldiers in military uniforms watches. The text on the graphic reads:

"This year marks the 83rd anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which led to the forced removal and incarceration of more than 125,000 Japanese Americans during World War II by the United States government.

In the midst of relentless anti-immigrant attacks that rely upon similar narratives and policies, we must recommit to community care and solidarity."

Happy LNY from 18MR!🧧🐍

Let this year of the wood snake be one where we shed old skins that no longer serve us and adapt to whatever comes our way. Just like how snakes have scales to protect themselves, may we also rely on our community, our allies, and our ancestors, to keep each other safe💚
Illustration against a pink background of three snakes each holding a red envelope with large text: Rise up & strike! Smaller subtext on the top left and bottom right reads: educate, organize, mobilize
