Badge system has a bunch of cheater badges which is nice. Strong push for self-imposed challenge. In my case I best the story blind, then went full God Mode while scouring for collectables; more games should let you do that
Base difficulty curve ramps up quickly - feels like it's a fan's game for fans, "you know what you're here for", but it also has difficulty modifiers to make progression harder or easier (more/fewer coins, damage dealt, health etc)
Meaty dungeons, all different enough (including boss setpieces) so you don't feel you're going on autopilot throughout the story, nor are they 'gimmicky' (a slog to get through). Ended up playing the game in 8-hour bursts
Tried the free demo for Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo. Three setpieces with different badge load outs and special attacks. Inventive and well-crafted without feeling clinical in terms of polish. Bought the full game and beat 100%
That song was helpful to inspire the right atmosphere for the fight scene and the pre-fight confrontation in space. Seeing the intro come together in the trailer still gives goosebumps
I enjoy the shape language of her ponytail and bangs
I started out with the mindset of 'these were made to be seen on certain displays' and made art accordingly, with strong single pixels, dithering etc. It's still not second nature to retain the idea of cluster theory or how nicely your stuff will read really up close on clean displays
Wanted to give it a shot since I rarely do small-scale sprites and have been trying to rewire my way of thinking with them
Some form of Raptor/Talbain fusion would be peak monster fighter design I feel
These people are very good at not doing anything and taking credit when other people do, especially if they can make it fit their #theresistance narrative
Will they adapt The Scene or will they coward out

I just want to pay for F-Zero GX on the Switch 2 and then own F-Zero GX

I hate enforced subscription plans
My policy with hardware is to wait at least a year, two years - expanded library + price drop - so the current console price isn't too big a worry. Game prices are very funny. Maybe we'll see discounts or changed minds at Nintendo
Also also, they're likely just covering their asses, which is fair -but the way the upgrade system is phrased makes it sound like they're rolling compatible games like they do the Virtual Console - e.g. drip-feed - and that's no fun either
Performance boost of last-gen games on next-gen hardware is something you take for granted; Switch 2 may convince other companies to go "yeah, why SHOULD we just let customers enjoy that for free?" Bums me out. Also never liked paying rent for games, so NSO Gamecube isn't hype

This is a little art project by me.

What would Belmont's Revenge look like if it were remade? 🧵1/18

I think I'm better suited as a background/concept artist but more than once I've been contacted specifically for sprite animation work
I need to work on more animations
If that mouse/cursor thing about the Switch 2 is true, it'd be really funny to see a Smash Bros or New Super Mario with a 'narrator' role for someone to edit the level, like Super Mario Maker but in real time
Given the concerns over Discord as of late, are there are particular names that keep popping up in terms of community hub alternatives
There's talks of a website being set up for the collab around September
