"Has all the ingredients and inspiration to make an interesting black comedy but it chooses to lean into making the story as huggable as possible. The movie is pretty solid in spite of this, still bringing out laughs quite reliably, even if its tone feels like a slight miscalculation."

I tell you guys, the most effective campaign against this administration has been South Park saying they have tiny dicks.

We are so close to someone declaring "War on Schweens Longer Than Four Inches."

RFK JR: There are many other confirmations -- there are two studies that show children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism. It’s highly likely because they are given Tylenol

I'm more scared that it just means that the world has gotten so insane that her ramblings just skew closer to a sort of coherence.

Also, to be frank, the one PG-13 Predator movie before this, while derided for it, is honestly better than half the R-rated Predator movies.

To be fair to Prey, it's not even the movie to break the streak. AVP Requiem avoided the line entirely.

We shouldn't be too hard on Prey when there is a much worse movie to be mad at.

Predator: Badlands PG-13 conversation: The MPAA is pretty lenient on creature violence, and since the closest to a human character is actually a robot, a lenient rating isn't surprising.

All a PG-13 means is that nobody says "You are one ugly motherfucker." But nobody dropped that in Prey either.

There was a period during the run of Alfred Hitchcock Presents where Hitch was suddenly a noted TV personality so he would hop into the ads and sell his own movies, notably North by Northwest and Marnie.

Psycho and The Birds were the ones that just said "This is Hitchcock and you want to see it."
1godzillafan.bsky.social
Psycho has a similar trailer but it's more meandering and it's more Hitch trying to explain the movie without spoiling the movie. This one is good but it kind of goes on too long and isn't nearly as funny.

What's your favorite movie trailer of all time?

I brought this up last week, but The Birds trailer is so good that it makes all other advertisement look amateurish.

But, of course, Hitchcock is the only one who could get away with an ad like this.

I miss the good old days when Tron was just a reference from that 3D Simpsons Halloween episode that I didn't understand.

I didn't have to watch the movies and I didn't have to look at Jared Leto. Such a joyous time when the world was full of magic.

As someone who WAS there, Friends was never funny. It just came out at a time when Cheers was over and Seinfeld was about to take its last bow. NBC needed a headliner for its Thursday line-up and decided to push Friends, then convinced late-born-Millennials it was the best sitcom of all time.

"The thing the film is missing is that it doesn't feel like it was made for a story, it feels like it was made to spit out chewed-up drama and maybe a story, a theme, an insight, or something might happen by happenstance."

Scary things do happen to the dog, but it's more palatable if you've seen the behind the scenes footage where they're just trying to get the dog to turn its head in a certain direction by waving toys and shouting "QUACK QUACK QUACK!"

Good Boy
⭐️⭐️⭐️
"The film reminds me quite a bit of last year's In a Violent Nature, which took a clichéd story and framed it away from where the focus would normally be. Some of the exposition also suffers in Good Boy but it more successfully maintains its gimmick."

Coyotes
⭐️⭐️
"The comedy of the movie is a mixture between rambunctious silliness, macabre black humor, and cringe awkwardness. It almost feels as if the movie was put on by an amateur improv group. Some of it is really funny but most of it feels like filling time however possible."

I'm going to lol so hard if the series ends with Dom at the bottom of the lake with his son and his entire team exploded.

Universal execs are not sure they’ll make the final ‘FAST & FURIOUS’ movie unless there’s about $50M in budget cuts.

Despite what Vin Diesel has claimed, there’s no approved script, no release date & most of the cast don’t have deals to return

I was in a nodding off mood during the second feature, and The Final Terror didn't really do much to quell that. It had its moments, but it mostly felt like not much was going on at any given time.

Didn't expect Alec Guiness or Andrew Davis on #TheLastDriveIn tonight, but it happened!

Mute Witness was a movie I hadn't heard of until its recent Arrow release, when I thought it was just Witness until I looked closer at the cover.

Anyway, what a fun movie! Greatly enjoyed that one.

After spacing last month, I am spending tonight at #TheLastDriveIn tonight. Unfortunately, I'm still without internet, so I'll be watching on my phone and will be off socials with the other #MutantFam again.

Am here in spirit. Tear the roof off the house!
