First day back in 2026 with Papahana o Kaiona after the holidays. The park was a mess that the students were able to reflect on. What if places didnt have trash cans? Would there be a behavior to leave trash scattered? Would people leave them in piles? Would they take it back with them...

Mahalo Kākou for such a great afternoon of conservation and bio cultural restoration work! Mālama ʻĀina in full effect. We got to work quickly on the very present guinea grass, beard grass and other non native and over whelming species. So much sprouting up after the needed rains.

Mahalo nui to our crew today! It was a super productive day. We started off reflecting on all those that we bring with us when we worked and again split up to get some invasive weeds as well as some rubbish. With an area rug, moped frame, and another bike it was another heavy day.

Mahalo to the wonderful group who made it out to Muliwaiʻōlena today. Knowing we are potentially seeing rain in the forecast, we focused attention on the muliwai, removing a bunch of trash from the last rain. We had to get creative to reach some of the trash, and we were successful!

Happy Aloha Friday and great to see many returning folks today! We all enjoyed the cool air and strong breeze today. Focus for today was cleaning up the paths of weeds and from there we went to the Ocean View hillside to plant a kukui tree and weed some more. Love the native plant growth.

It was a chilly afternoon today as the sun found itself in the western sky. We were overwhelmed by guinea grass, beard grass and other smaller types of weeds. A daunting task for sure, and we took it on directly. We worked around never outplanting areas and then tackled a heavy density area.
