Mahalo nui to this wonderful team. First cleanup here following the recent heavy rain and flooding of the stream. We had a great opportunity to see how native outplantings held up and are happy to say everything is still in place. As you can imagine, a bunch of trash washed down to...

Happy Aloha Christmas Friday all! Big Mahalo to today's stellar stewards today. We took our time exploring and observing the rain effects on both the grounds and the plants. Then we went to work removing new invasive sprouts and collecting milo seeds! Mahalo Nui Team 🧡

Mahalo to these amazing folks for spending the morning out at Kaloko! It was a beautiful day. We continued to clear out buffel grass and koa haole from an area we will plan to outplant next year. We took a look at native yellow faced bees, plants and talked about the Hawai'i place names...

Big Mahalo to Krista and Alexandra Jaspers!

"Beautiful Christmas morning in Hawaii! We were greeted by 3 playful monk seals and a huge baitball. The amount of line and lead is insane - maybe the worst I’ve seen ever. We only picked up in a very small area but could have stayed all day and still...

Another beautiful day of service in Hawaiʻi nei. We welcomed a reflection of Winter Soltice, Ke Ala Nui o Kanaloa, as we began our oli learning today. We picked up an abandoned dump of trash on the beach, then walked the parking area and headed out to Muliwaiʻōlena to grab trash that was...

Solo mission today and had an awesome time. As expected, a lot of trash accumulating in the mouth of the canal, and the sand plug is filling back in. Will need to get back out here soon to get the additional trash. Collected trash, primarily wrappers and containers, 11 diapers and a bunch...

Mahalo nui to our awesome team for the productive stewardship today. The sky cleared just enough for us to get some native plants into the ground, and pull non native plants out of the ground. Working on clearing the non native things out for our 2026 wet season planting.

Big Mahalo to Isabell Sciutto and Maria!

"Long over due! The big dumps on North Road no longer happen, this is daily intentional littering. We tackled only a 1/4 mile stretch gathering 133 pounds plus some bulk items. Reported to 311 App for pick up."

Big Mahalo to today's stellar stewards! So excited to see the native plants springing to life from these heavy rains. We continued to remove invasive plants to create more space for the return of native coastal species. More beach rubbish today but hopefully just a small increase.
December 18, 2025 at 6:01 AM
Please never burn pallets! Think of all the people enjoying this space from keiki to kūpuna and ask yourself, would you would to find sharp metal poking your buns on the sand? Please help spread the word to eliminate this practice and replace it with mindful practices. For beach fires please...

The rain held back this afternoon and the cool wind was appreciated. We kept at the new sprouting of guinea and beard grass, chinese violet and of course koa haole. Native plants certainly enjoying this rain. We put in to the ground a few ʻŌhelo Kai and are hoping they thrive here as...

Happy Aloha Friday and big Mahalo to today's stellar stewards! Much of today's focus was a class led by Kimeona in lei making! Today's leis will go towards a long combined lei celebrating 20 years of work on a fishpond. In addition, we removed some invasive species on the ocean view drive side...

Mahalo to these awesome folks who dared the rains today to do some work. While I personally am not a big fantastic of working in rain for long periods of times, this group really pushed themselves. The rain is so needed, and it was light enough to still do meaningful work.
December 11, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Happy Wednesday and big mahalo to today's tremendous team! At first glance, the beach seemed cleaner this week than last but sure enough the volunteers found many piles of rubbish throughout the many hidden spots. The invasive plants team absolutely demolished stands of buffelgrass and kiawe...

Mahalo to our awesome team for the collective work today in Waimānalo. We focused our time on the increased micro plastics debris that are reaching higher onto the beach following this past high swell. I continued to gather data on the Pōhuehue seeds being impacted by the weevils.
