Back on Twitter, I had separate personal and professional accounts, but I want to have only one profile here. So I might post something like "Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again!" followed by "How query optimizers work, a 🧵"
13YO gets to suggest some songs for an upcoming school event playlist, and she asked for some song suggestions.
You'd better believe we listened to Beck, Cake, and the Flaming Lips!

I think my family is starting to get tired of me talking about neutrinos.

On a good day, llm programming feels extremely powerful and high leverage. On a bad day, it feels like this.

Maybe mayonnaise. Maybe malt vinegar. Maybe plain. Maybe ranch. Depends on the fry and how the spirit moves me.

I just got the Stormlight RPG for Christmas, and I'm GM-ing a game with my two oldest kids.

Is there a group interested in playing online?

This is not only allowed, but it is encouraged 😁

This is relatable. This is me.

Guys, I ate like a pound and a half of cheese. Would not recommend.

Haha. I'm glad it's not just me!
I'm not gonna lie - I'm a bit burned out on Linux these days.

Apparently most of what I like about FreeBSD was 𝚜̶𝚝̶𝚘̶𝚕̶𝚎̶𝚗̶ ̶𝚏̶𝚛̶𝚘̶𝚖̶ inspired by Solaris, so yeah - maybe I should just go with illumos instead.

You know those times you just get the urge to install Illumos/OpenIndiana on that spare computer you have?
Yeah, I can relate.

I know that many children introduced their parents to this movie. Not so here. I convinced my kids to watch it because I love it so much :D

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Apropos of nothing: I cannot stop thinking about how perfect pretty much every aspect of K Pop Demon Hunters is.

I have been looking over Oxide's RFDs, and I was *just* about to search for any that had been published on LLM usage when I saw your post! That was quite fortuitous timing.

Bryan has one of the most well-reasoned recommendations for the use of LLMs for technical folks. I appreciate his acknowledgement that LLMs are revolutionary tools, but they are still tools. I also love the take that they are currently more adept at reading than writing.
I have put together a (long overdue!) draft RFD on using LLMs at @oxide.computer, but I know that there is a ton more to be said on the topic; thoughts and experiences welcome!

The difference between application programming and systems programming is the difference between the mindset that thinks "memory is fast" and the one that thinks "memory is slow."

Well, I here's a win for AI: I had seen this made-for-tv movie years ago, and I could never remember enough about it to find it. However, chatgpt helped me find Vanishing Act, and now I want to re-watch it.
If you like 80s made-for-tv mystery movie, I'd highly recommend it.
