@zackpolanski.bsky.social used his QT appearance last week to talk about the case for a #WealthTax, and to remind us we shouldn’t be intimidated by the empty threats of a minority of greedy vested interests.

@patmillsuk.bsky.social are happy to pay their fair share.

Have never considered myself a Greens supporter but, if Chloe's gone on Gary's Economics, I might just have to pay more attention. Tax Wealth, Not Work. #nzpol #NZ

The rich don't work. Tax wealth, not work. #nzpol
We need to tax wealth not work.

Why? Because usually no matter how hard you work, the compound interest on huge wealth grows much faster than your wages + the rich use this passive income to buy all the assets.

So when I said trust in institutions collapsed deservedly, I meant exactly this: they failed to live up to the democratic functions they were meant to perform. People lost faith not because they were misled, but because they were paying attention.

So when I say that trust is in decline "deservedly so," I mean this: Institutions that were supposed to embody VDA actively undermined it. The loss of trust wasn’t irrational. It was earned, over time, through abandonment of democratic purpose.
