State terrorism is becoming a tool for population control, not only in unrepentant tyrannies, but also in states that were once democratic. Criminalizing dissent does not make the state safer; it weakens it. We must be vigilant and actively confront fear.

I was driving home today and there was a bottleneck on the street and I saw what I thought was maybe a rifle and my immediate reaction was "am I about to see my first ice raid, I'm not equipped to live stream this" and that says a lot about the US today.
