You’d think the Giant American #millipede was eating the #glowworm, but it’s the other way around!
Female glowworms look pretty much the same their whole lives (larviform). Males metamorphosize and get gorgeous antennae to help them search for those female pheromones!

Juvenile #red-bellied #snake
Several species of juvenile snake here in #nc have some kind of spot or mark behind their heads. So I asked the experts at #inaturalist for help on this one.
Remember, no one knows everything, we are always #learning #nature #photography
Brown sugar instead of white and 1/4 cup to 1 cup ratio of bread flour to all purpose flour gets them fluffy :)
Crunchy is for potato chips, not cookies ;)

We never handle salamanders b/c they breathe through their skin. Even our natural oils can harm them.

I can’t see you, you can’t see me! #snails can have 10k-14k “teeth” on their foot.
They hatch w/ their shells on, just like turtles! They also seal their shells up when it’s too dry & can aestivate for up to 3 years!

Sometimes when I need a pick me up, I go to the #garden center and watch the #bees #bumblebee #flowers #happyplace
Remember catching “wishes” when you were a kid?
Open #Milkweed pod, with help from the wind, will disperse “wish” seeds so next year’s #monarch #butterflies can have a good meal after their long trip back from Central America.

Those little hairs on his legs are called setae! Nope, he doesn’t need to shave.
They help capture water from damp sand so these dudes and dudettes can breathe without having to go into the ocean.

If you want these guys in your yard, plant parsley, dill, or anything in the carrot family.
Plant A LOT.

#carolina horsenettle is a member of the nightshade family and the host plant for the Carolina Sphinx #Moth . Let the caterpillars eat this one, guys. It’s toxic to us, and dogs, and yeah. Super pretty though!
