The analytics folk, me included, have for the past decade or so extolled the virtues of evaluating goalkeepers on something like goals against - post-shot xG (G-PSxG).

I don't think that's wrong, per se, but, if that is the only metric, we've got some issues.

That’s 1 of 17 home games

( X*16 + 60,000 ) / 17 = 23,420

X = 21,134

So that’s just under a sellout on average for the new stadium, and would look full at any quick glance

Assuming the team continues to improve + better/more accessible location… 22k is easy

The new stadium should be sold out every game, which is awesome

But if your loudest supporters or families with kids can’t afford to go to a game that doesn’t mean much

It will be interesting to see how many season tickets they end up selling

I don’t know if it’s too late to make changes, but a 22,000 capacity is too small for the new stadium

Unless the team is proactive about pricing, lots of fans will be priced out

Still, this is impressive and a credit to the Fire’s front office, both Gregg and everyone behind the scenes #mls

Combine this with the fact that a sizeable portion of jobs are filled internally and that many online job postings are just to check a box even though they already know who they’re hiring, and the idea of ‘hey just go get a job’ isn’t so simple

I’ll use my experience as a way of example, given I’ve been looking for new work for a while

Mid-level jobs are hiring people way overqualified because there’s more seekers than jobs

New grads can maybe find a job because they’ll work for less money

All of us in the middle? Not much there!

Especially in a year where so many kids were given opportunities and the fact the Stars just couldn’t score goals #nwsl
