Garden friends telling me that there'll come the moment where I don't want to see another courgette for the rest of the year.

That moment has not arrived yet. 🌱

(grilled slices in herb marinade; panko-fried blossoms filled with ricotta)
thin slices of green courgette, grilled with thyme and rosemary and in an olive oil apple vinegar marinade, on a white plate. a smal white plate with two panko-fried zucchini blossoms, crunchy light brown, the shortened greens tems pointing to the upper right. (what you don't necessarily see: they're fileld with ricotta-lemon-zest parmesan, with some salt and pepper, and breaded with flour-beaten egg-panko. Fried in a small pan with a bit of olive oitl, 4-5 Minutes, giving careful turns to the blossoms)

The courgette experiment is making a strong argument for a restaging next year: first time ever eating filled, baked blossoms - and from my own terrace garden, too. Yum. 🌱

First blossom on the chilis!
(they had a rough, windy start this year once they moved outside, but have recovered nicely. Only three small plants this year - grown from organic seeds from a friend's mom, friend, billed simply as "chili pepper - spice only." I'm curious to see what variety they are)

A zucchini plant, growing, the perspective is looking into the stems and leaves from above. One mini zucchino has its blossom alread closed, two male blossoms are open in a bright, buttery orange. More buds are visible, and several new, light green leaves are unfurling.

The facility cleaning crew showed up on Thursday.
All my mallows-of-the-cracks are gone. Every blade of green outside of a flowerpot is gone.
Sigh. 🌱
Tuesday morning, a small mallow plant with 5 bringt and plane pink blossoms, one only just opening. the plant grows in between concrete tiles, next to thick grass blades and other weeds. Left and right are outlines of orange flowerboxes The same concrete tiles on Thursday, with the crack space in between barren. The mallows are gone, no glassblade is in sight, everything has been kärchered (it's a sad, sad photo, taken from above)

Since it’s #BlackSpaceWeek I thought I would share 3 portraits of extraordinary Black women in space science from my #histsci series. 🐡🧪🧮🎢⚒️

Mathematician & NASA scientist Katherine Johnson (née Coleman; 1918 – 2020) was one of the 1st Black women employed as a NASA scientist (& predecessor NACA).

Just saved this this little bumble buddy from batting his head against the hallway windows and let him out onto my lavender. The first half hour, he just clung to it in exhaustion, but now he's crawling around and enjoying a leisurely breakfast. 🐝 🌱

Gardening Pride! 🌱

My Mallow of the Tile Cracks is tireless. 🌱
A mallow (with 5 different stems spreading out) in full bloom, photo taken from above on a cloudy day. The blossoms are pink with violet centers and violet lines running up each petal. The plant grows in the cross spot of four ugly concrete tiles, among grass blades. At the top of the image, the faded orange wall of a flowerbox comes into view.
