Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

These two things are of a piece, even if the motivations and details differ.

Trump’s justification for his authoritarian crackdown is an America that doesn’t exist.

Lizzie O’Leary quote post of a CNN post that pairs the headline “What is the insurrection act?” with an image of an on fire Winchell’s Donuts from the 92 LA riots.

R.I.P the TiVo DVR (1999-2025)

The pioneer in digital video recording has officially ceased selling its DVR.

TiVo changed my life, and cloud DVRs will never match its precision and user-friendliness. It's the best piece of consumer electronics I've ever used.

I'm mad about a lot of things (ha! ha!) but the sheer number of journalists who wrote "There are no plans to implement Project 2025" under the grounds of "well, Trump says there aren't, so..." and still have jobs is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up there

President Trump says he is meeting today with Russ Vought, OMB director and "of PROJECT 2025 Fame," to discuss cuts to "Democrat Agencies."

I mean the republicans in congress already abdicated their responsibilities to the executive anyway so who the fuck cares. Also I believe the OMB director has been salivating over this idea for years and has detailed dream journals about it.

Johnson: "Russ does this reluctantly. He takes no pleasure in this. Russ has to sit down and decide which policies, personnel, & programs are essential & which are not. That's not a fun task and he's not enjoying that responsibility...if they keep the govt closed, it's gonna get more & more painful"

This is a good point - I wonder if being able to access a lot of services online that you once had to go to the big city for has contributed to many rural and suburban Americans pathological fear of The City.

I think walmart, amazon, ticketmaster, etc have much of the blame for this mentality. Used to, there were shopping or recreational incentives for rural and small town folk to visit large cities, now the only reason is when a relative needs advanced medical treatments.

I think they're the same versions they show on AMC. I figured this out after an hour of wondering why all the scene transitions in Steel Magnolias were so weird and finally realizing it was fading to black for commercial breaks that didn't exist.

The problem isn’t with the President, it’s with Congress. Not that the President is doing good things here, but that we have a Constitutional structure to deal with an overreaching Executive. We don’t have any way of dealing with a Legislative branch that’s determined to become irrelevant.
