Spent the afternoon and early evening eating/drinking/looking at things in Saltaire/Shipley borders. As many Japanese tourists and achingly trendy young couples per square yard as E11/E17. Extraordinary.

I went through a stage of feeling its literary references might be a little too self-conscious but came to realize that it was me not LC that was gauche and that cleverness in music should be celebrated rather than hidden. And the tunes are undeniable.

Rum and coke does seem to induce particularly severe hangovers. I still recall with a shudder a two-day malaise I suffered in Bolivia nearly 20 years ago.
