The seaweed farmers of Beniamina, South Pacific Ocean, live a carbon-negative existence: their crops draw down CO₂ emitted a world away.

This is the opening sequence* from my project BENIAMINA.

With other works about climate solutions it premieres today at ImagoLisboa photo festival... 1/2

Marnie Sebire longed to live on the water but feared she would have to give up her career with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Learning how to drive a boat allowed her to do both.

Dirty icebergs? Hard-to-remove sediments? Dial 1-800-ICEBERG-CARE... Err no, it’s not a billboard campaign but a still from my video artwork “anthropoScene XII”, exhibited as part of the OnBoards Biennale in Belgium whose theme in 2025 is relationships (in my case between human and #MoreThanHuman).

Winning The New Scientist editors’ award for best film at #EarthPhoto2025 in London this week was the work I made featuring the Inuit youth of Uummannaq Children’s Home:
“Sikkorluppoq” (meaning ‘the sea ice is not good’).

At the Royal Geographical Society till 20 Aug.

Season's Finale (2/2)
As winter leaves us in the Norwegian Arctic, some of this season’s highlights included #IceBubbles, #PolarStratosphericClouds, #Aurora and (in my poorly insulated house at least) #WindowFrost! ❄ ⛄

Lowlight was the lack of #Arctic #SeaIce: it's the lowest March extent on record

(3/3) Now back here filming the Renewable Energy Transition: #Utsira #lighthouse has been through a few! First clockwork (ie. musclepower & gravity battery)+whale oil; fossil fuel during the Occupation; then hydro- & now wind-power, with battery storage to help the island be energy self-sufficient.

(2/3) En route from Svalbard to Greenland for PhD research, my homeland had slammed shut its doors for what would be 1½ years. It was the Norwegians who sheltered me: first Utsira Kommune in the North Sea, and later Gratangen in the Arctic.
I'll never forget that generosity...

5 years ago, this North Sea lighthouse became my home during the pandemic. Arriving, I went straight into quarantine, remaining marooned (“koronafast”) on the island for almost 3 months… (1/3)

I’ve been guest of Tromsø International Film Festival (Arctic Norway) this week. Saturday's the final screening of our film Sikoqqinngisaannassooq about the loss of Arctic sea ice in a remote Greenlandic community.

Probably should've chosen an easier title if I wanted to win the audience award tho!

Mid-January is our world première at
Tromsø Film Festival, Norway’s largest, mid January. A #documentary – about a remote #Inuit community in #Greenland facing loss of its #SeaIce – that I made with the amazing young people of Uummannaq Childrens Home this year.
