“Sikkorluppoq” (meaning ‘the sea ice is not good’).

As winter leaves us in the Norwegian Arctic, some of this season’s highlights included #IceBubbles, #PolarStratosphericClouds, #Aurora and (in my poorly insulated house at least) #WindowFrost! ❄ ⛄

Lowlight was the lack of #Arctic #SeaIce: it's the lowest March extent on record

(2/3) En route from Svalbard to Greenland for PhD research, my homeland had slammed shut its doors for what would be 1½ years. It was the Norwegians who sheltered me: first Utsira Kommune in the North Sea, and later Gratangen in the Arctic.
I'll never forget that generosity...

5 years ago, this North Sea lighthouse became my home during the pandemic. Arriving, I went straight into quarantine, remaining marooned (“koronafast”) on the island for almost 3 months… (1/3)
