My colleague has captured what is currently happening at my institution. I have found the chipper rhetoric announcing it particularly depressing.

Happy "I made the mistake of getting a haircut in the middle of the semester" day. And traditional apologies to my change-averse students.

hello friends! I'm giving a talk at the Columbia Shakespeare Seminar this friday -- it'll be on Ovid (ish), Petrarch (sorta), obscure 17th century English lyric (yes!), trans poetics, and maybe a hint of psychoanalysis. Abstract at the link below -- and if you want to Zoom in, DM me for a link :)

I was told by my children to never use this, but what do they know about tapping into the energy of youth culture?? Locals - consider a Sunday evening music event? I wrote new songs. There is a boggle subtext to many of them. And Peter Mulvey - that guy is good.

Doing some personal website freshening, I discovered that a youtube link I thought was connected to a Folger Ed. lecture on Macbeth actually sent people to an episode of The Midnight Special from 1973 I had watched featuring Gladys Knight and Chris Smither. Much better than the lecture!

It's my band! With a glowing mushroom that was the stage property of a different band. We're playing our first show in 18 months in Easthampton, MA at The Marigold, and Peter Mulvey be there, too. I for one am using this as motivation to stay on track until mid-November. No promises after that.

Truly a satisfying documentary, btw. Such a literalist. "My wife, she told me it was crazy to drive my motorcycle in the rain. But I survived. And that's what inspired the song about me driving my motorcycle in the rain and surviving and my wife telling me I was crazy." Love it. A fan since age 6.
