My newsletter and discord promotions used to be a little more separated during the week than they've been. Not sure how they got so squished together. Anyway, sorry for all the promotions crowding together. Please join my discord server

My reading reflection post didn't have room to put my favorite reads from 2025. So here they are!

Depending on the app, they show different 5-star reads. Who knows?

Tied for the best read of 2025 are The Keeper of Lonely Spirits by E.M. Anderson and The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar.

Meet the characters! Rosa Chirre

Rosa is Nina's older sister, a secondary character. She thinks Nina is the cause of her own trouble and the reason their family falls apart. It takes her a long time to forgive her and realize that family cohesion takes everyone's effort. Once she does, she's all in

New year, new previously published stories from me series. Let's start with my first published story in the 2000s: “Submerged” (250 words) – Wyld Flash – March 19, 2021

I'm extra proud of the final line.

It's my Reading Wrap-Up from 2025! Or 2025 book recap. I gathered in the 3 books I read and loved in December.

December started my 2026 Debut ARC reading with
The Poet Empress by @storygoose Jan 20
Tidespeaker by @sadieturnerauthor Jan 6
Into the Midnight Wood by @anmccollumbooks Jan 13
January 7, 2026 at 1:52 PM
It's that time of year again! Reading wrap-ups and looking forward!

My goal for next year is to read 52 books! That will bring me back to my average annual reading level for most of my life. I met that number this year, so it's looking good for next year.

What have I got to read?

Character art reveal!

Swipe for full art!

My first character art comission ever. I adore this piece of Corey and Nina sitting on Corey's car on a summer night out in the country, looking at stars.

Meet the character: Marq Dontaria

Marq is Corey's older brother. Marq is far from perfect and far from a fuck-up. Full of flaws and doing his best when his best is sometimes good enough and sometimes not. When their parents are removed from their lives, Corey is angry and petulant.

The next quote I'd like to highlight comes from Chapter 3 when Corey is trying to get Nina to open up about herself.

Got my first rejection of 2026, now have done 3 submissions towards my goal of 52.

It occurs to me I could see if I have anything not submitted and do a push with all of those. But I also have 6 other author-related items to do today. So, I probably won't do the submissions.
