We lost a warrior, a freedom fighter, a visionary, someone who changed the way I see the world. May Assata Shakur rest in power with the ancestors!
Black and white image or Assata Shakur wearing silver earrings with cowrie shells in her locs, looking to the side talking to someone.

The empty left-influencer rhetoric instructing people to “join an organization” is deeply misleading. What kind of org and why? The word “organization” isn't inherently left. There are fascist organizations. Don't just say uncritical stuff that doesn't truly help for the sake of saying something.

We're in danger because the contemporary US left is oversaturated with a bunch of posturing and old lines. People are going to walk right into a bunch of avoidable traps, thinking they can run the same plays from 50-100 years ago. This is a different era. Consider your words and actions.

The "broligarchs" of today are no different from the oligarchs of the Gilded Age: "the top priority is not to gain more money; it is to gain more power and control over society and its future."

This zine is maybe 15 pages and absolutely worth your time:

This @offshootjournal.bsky.social zine comes out of necessity. Take a firm stand against those romanticizing the ruling class of old because they donated some of the wealth they took in blood. It was hoarded by oppressing people throughout this country and the world.

There are no good oligarchs.

COVID-19 has revealed that much of the US public is willing to accept mass death and abandonment. We were pushed by propaganda to see many around us as disposable. That helped set the tone for current fascist violations. I wrote about it for @prismreports.org.

Another way out: Building resistance when passivity is the norm
The COVID-19 pandemic should have shown us that we’re supposed to be meeting needs, not falling in line behind fascist incursions
