No, he thought, he was starting to think of her in a way that was improbable, impossible. Rey’s hand is sweaty on the orange plastic phone on the front desk at the precinct. The balding officer, who smells of stale coffee and old cigarettes, looks like he’s calculating overtime in his head. “Just one call,” he says, flicking through a copy of the Post’s sport section. She runs through the names of comrades in her head. People who would be more than willing to sit in the overly-heated waiting room all night until she’s processed and released. She thinks of the phone-trees she’ll activate. The sleeping people who’ll be woken up for her. Again. With a sinking feeling, Rey dials the number she has memorized because she told herself it would help her forget. It rings, and for a moment she thinks he won’t answer. In a way, it would be a relief. Proof that he’s the wrong person to call, that he cannot, in fact, be relied upon. But no. The line clicks.“Rey?” His voice has a rough edge from sleepless nights spent over briefs and appeals, from too many cups of coffee too late in the day. She swallows. Doesn’t answer. “Rey?” She hears soft shuffling, the sound of sheets being thrown back. She can almost feel them. He clears his throat. Then, more softly: “Did you get booked again?” He can’t see her, but Rey nods, tears threatening finally to burst out of her seams. She hasn’t cried all day. Not from the heady adrenaline before the action, or the clutching fear when it became obvious the police had already been tipped off. Not from the pain in her zip-tied wrists in the militarized cop-carrier. Not even when Rose cried, more out of frustration at her careful plans being thwarted than anything. But it’s the softness Ben reserves for her that undoes Rey. She does not want to be in anyone’s custody. Especially his. “Tell me where you are, Rey.” He’ll be there soon, cash in hand. Crumpled suit and snow in his hair. “And in the meantime, you remember what I told you?” “Yeah,” Rey says at last. “No comment.” * The chill of the air outside the precinct doors knocks the life back into her. Ben eyes her with a sideways glance, his hands on his lapels though he’s going to offer her his coat. But he doesn’t. He knows better now.

My art work called “Rey and Ben through the eyes of the force”. The painting is a large blue Kyber crystal and inside it you can see Rey on the top trying to send the blue lightsaber to Ben through the force and at the bottom you can see Ben Solo receiving the lightsaber. The background is indigo. Inspired by the battle in ep IX. Drawn in Procreate with acrylic and foil brushes and ink.

Rey holding Ben’s face right before she kisses him. In the bottom left corner are two small dark heart shapes and one bright one. And when the war at last ended, he’d died but twice. Once in battle—a blast of radiance so powerful it stopped his heart—and once in the course of his master’s training. It was not a waste, the Lord of Darkness had told him, so long as he had learned something. He’d been spared twice over, too: first by the Light’s paragon, and then at the trials, where the Sith Lord’s manipulations had come to light—a pun too apt to avoid—and he’d been shockingly and undeservingly pardoned. Sentenced only to relocate to a small, disgustingly welcoming village, and live “a peaceful life.” Whatever that meant. But sometimes he feels like the Sith blessing spell had been half-sham; like he’d come back wrong anyway, warped by each brush with the grave. He can’t remember the man he was before—though perhaps that’s because he was barely more than a boy when he joined the Sith Lord’s army, swayed by the promise of becoming who he was meant to be. The irony, in retrospect, is more painful than his scars.

a black and white still of an empty First Order interrogation room with the same style of "chair" that Rey was imprisoned in on Starkiller Base Whirling on him, she yells, “What—in the galaxy and its every bloody system—was that?” She knifes her hand at the Twi’lek’s body, now slumped like a puppet against the interrogation device, his head bent to a hideous angle. “What he deserved. Better than,” Kylo grits out. He turns to her, eyes blazing. “You certainly didn’t seem prepared to do anything about it.” “I—you—” For seconds, Rey is so incandescent she can’t form a coherent thought. Throat tight and fists clenched, she burns at the ignorance of his accusation. “You think I wasn’t sickened by it? I was! It was vile! But I—the actual subject of the his thoughts—was able to ignore them and focus on getting the information we needed! He so obviously did it to distract us—you! You played right into their hands, again!” There’s barely an inch between them when she finishes. She’s shaking, too, with shock and adrenaline and the harsh reminder of her bondmate’s cruelty that lingers in the satisfied twist of his lips. “No one is permitted to think that way about you, Rey,” Kylo says in his softest, most dangerous tone. His breath is a hot kiss on her mouth, every syllable laced with threat. His fingers flex toward her. Rey jerks back. “Except for you, right?
