The weaver woman.

She weaves a quilt.
A blanket of pain.
Chain stitches
Back stitch
Running stitch.
She weaves a
generation of trauma.
Sweaters of pain
For her children
And their children
Trauma.

Don't touch my breasts!

Tase me to the ground
Throw me against
The hood of your car
and handcuff me
But don't touch my chest
Don't let my breasts
Bear the shame of arrest

The drumming stops...
Guitarist lures me to a dreamy
utopia with a series of arpeggios
and broken chords.
Takes me on a euphoric ride
without protection.
He moans a bluesy melody
Strums the strings of my
vintage heart in vibrato
Heavenly eloquence caressed
on a fret board

Is Uganda free? 🇺🇬
Did Uganda leave the bedroom of the British protectorate?

We chant freedom while injustices buzz around the city like bees.

Well, Happy Independence Day to Uganda!

Passports are the new shackles in Human trafficking.
The unsettling #dubaiportapotty BBC investigative documentary that follows the death of Ugandan girl called Monica in Dubai reminded me of this poem.

What a time to
be in love.
An age where Darwin's
theory of natural
selection makes sense.
When countries are
Bombing each other
Where maps are redrawn
and restrictions are
Stressed
When kisses taste
blood in the mouth.
And love is a
pandemic
A gunshot wound

From the fortress of muxima in
Angola to Robben island in
South Africa.
From Mountain Kilimanjaro
In Tanzania to the Bujagali
Falls in Uganda.
Mine is a story of the night.
An enchanting delight.

Poetry is a great catharsis
for healing because of its
aesthetic properties and
evocative language.

Poetry creates
an emotional response with
the flow of words
meticulously knit together
as units of expression.

Let's heal the world with poems.

I am the famed litany of
infamous blame.
Criticism is smudged on the
bottom of cocktail glasses.

I am a poet’s penance.
The blues and the spirituals.
Old words in new skin
clothed in nonentity.

Poetry is a distilled language.
Intricately woven piece
of artistry glowing at the seams.
Laced with the
blood of wordsmiths.
Aesthetically beautiful.
Bursting with emotions
like fireworks.

May joy become
A resident in your
Home
May love paint a
Smile on your face
May the spirit of the
Season bring you closer
To your family.

And as you trim the
Tree, I hope that
You'll be merry.

Merry Christmas! 🎄

It takes one
To kick my mind,
Grate my skin
Pierce my lungs,
And I sink in quicksand.
Take this tissue skin,
Beat it.
Harden it.
Add a layer of audacity.
Drink sharp nails.
Direct them through your glare.
That one will shrivel.
This one is an Argo in clashing seas.

To the incarcerated
Roaming the thin
walls of overcrowded
Prisons.
Rotating through
Courts of injustice.
Freedom is
postponed like a
meeting.
Your plea for candor
and veracity is denied.
Relationships are
delayed.
Children, orphaned.

⭐ Day 16 of #16DaysOfActivism against Gender Based Violence #poem

I wear marks
Of abuse like a
Warrior
Trudge through
Pavements like I
Got plantar fasciitis.
Walk from mirror to
Mirror like a ghoul
With diffidence
Glistening on my skin
A survivor of violence
