Entry 55: 2019 – ALASDAIR’S DEATH.
In 2019 Alasdair received the Saltire Society’s first Lifetime Achievement Award, 28 years after winning Scottish Book of the Year for Lanark. He died on 29 Dec, a day after his 85th birthday, leaving a lasting legacy. Photo by Alan Dimmick.

We welcomed Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren, to the archive today. It was great to show how we’re reconnecting Alasdair Gray’s work with the Canal Ward and hear her memories—she even helped identify lost local buildings in our collection!
