Yes, and how is any of that relevant to the discussion you interrupted, where there almost certainly won’t be a viable third party?
agrossfield.bsky.social
May it continue as long as possible!
agrossfield.bsky.social
Since you chose to ignore where I already answered the second half of your comment, I think this discussion is over.

When faced with a binary choice, it’s foolish not to take the less bad one. However, the key in the interim is to avoid having to make that choice, by trying to ensure a better candidate gets nominated.

Sounds like the world’s worst porn parody

He would still be a lesser evil than anyone who the republicans would likely nominate — they’d share those negatives and have a lot of others. However, he’s pretty far down the list of people I’d want to see nominated.

On the outside chance you’re not a complete imbecile: one can do all of those things and still think Newsom is a mediocre presidential candidate who supports a lot of terrible policies. Saying so now ups the odds we end up nominating someone better.
agrossfield.bsky.social
I live in NY. In any event, this whole conversation was about Newsom as a presidential candidate.
agrossfield.bsky.social
To pick a presidential candidate? Yes. We need to see how people effectively resist, what they advocate for, and how they connect with people. Pointing out that Newsom is a deeply flawed politician doesn’t become a bad idea because he hired a good social media consultant.

Once again, one of your many contributions is helping the rest of us find people to block. You don’t deserve to be attacked like that.
agrossfield.bsky.social
Exactly — if Newsom were nominated, I’d hold my nose and vote for him as the lesser evil, but we’re >2 years out and there’s time to find someone better.

Only complaint is the preview on their site pixelates things, which worried us the first time. The real posters are fine.

We’ve used spoonflower.com, specifically the performance pique fabric. They’re quick, good quality, and (even with express) cheaper than the university print shop. Also, the express fee is per order, not per poster, so if you’re getting several it’s a great deal.

Isn’t that from The Sounds of Silence, Simon and Garfunkel?

I have been trying to get this published as an op-ed, but I am going to post it here since I think it is timely in light of the "consent" extortion events.

It’s not a new medium, and calling it a “translation” really strains the definition of the word. It’s a cheap attempt to cash in on someone else’s work.
agrossfield.bsky.social
Retelling changes the title and most of the individual words, and (hopefully) adds new ideas and perspectives. By its own description, all this does is dumb down the language, while labeling itself in a way that you might accidentally think it’s the real thing. The appropriate response is contempt.
agrossfield.bsky.social
I agree. I loved it when I read it around ~1989, but I don’t dare read it now, because I think I’ll find it too depressing.

I understand copyright expiration, but I still find the idea of “translating” it offensive and wish there were a way to prevent it.

“Modernized” — I think you misspelled “plagiarized”. Or perhaps you meant “bastardized”?
agrossfield.bsky.social
The easiest one is probably Langevin, which has the advantage of mixing modes efficiently even in a small isolated system. The downside is you don’t have a conserved quantity to make it easy to ensure you got it write. I think you’ll find the modern version if you search for “middle integrator”.

That appears to be that account’s only post, though it has some reposts.
