The damage I’ve seen coming out of Western Jamaica from #Melissa is nothing short of catastrophic.
Upshear convection in Melissa’s eyewall is absolutely exploding again. Near -90°C cloud tops and a huge increase in lightning.
It is so patently absurd that this guy got let go from his HURRICANE FORECASTING job because of some 16-20 year old right wing DOGE nutjob and Elon.
That's officially the highest final ADT estimate ever in the Atlantic and I believe it is now the second highest of all time behind Patricia in 2015.
I don’t think it’s quite sunk in how crazy a storm holding for a day at 910 mb (or lower) in the Atlantic basin really is.
Strong winds in the Puget Sound area also supported by a 10-12 mb SEA-PDX gradient per SPC mesoanalysis and a leeside (of the Olympics) trough enhancing said gradient. Common feature in Pacific NW windstorms for W #wawx.
Well, that's quite the microwave presentation with #Melissa. Very well organized inner core.
Really impressive radar signature with this potent low pressure system delivering a strong and damaging gale to the Puget Sound area right now. Sustained 41 mph winds with a 66 mph gust at the Tacoma Narrows Bridge #wawx.
Oh that’s pretty high end for them.
I think it is a disservice to call this just "dumb", it's evil.
Um, is this not flat out admitting to the intent to commit murder?
Trump: I don't think we're gonna necessarily ask for a declaration of war. I think we're just gonna kill people. Okay? We're gonna kill them. They're gonna be, like, dead.
Ok HAFS let’s just settle down just A BIT.
Beyond the Jays making the WS, what in the actual f*ck is going on here? The last time the White House looked that bad was 1812.
Behold: Republican permitting reform.
Any estimate of what all this rain in the Colorado watershed will do for Lakes Powell and Mead?
The amount of Jays fans in Seattle for this upcoming series is about to be incomprehensible.
Considering the news I've been reading recently about the Colorado River basin/reservoirs, this could be a huge short term blessing.
Where in the hell has this been for the past year? Well, hope it continues.
"So, Democrats have three words for this: no fucking way. It's literally life or death. We will not let Republicans blow up our health care system."

This is, hands down, the best comms work Chuck Schumer has done in YEARS. Surprisingly good.
Well, that’s the worst post, pretty easily.
Oh I need to take a look at this.
Well didn’t have that on my bingo card this morning.
Maybe we should be increasing funding for medical research or something, not slashing it, so more things like this can happen.
⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

A new oyster-inspired Bone-02 adhesive can revolutionize bone repair without metal fasteners.

My point is that Trump's FY26 budget would be an absolute disaster. Despite congress broadly rejecting it, the executive branch (Vought) is still trying to push significant elements of it using impoundment, etc. They are essentially trying to go around congress to pass it.
You do realize that passing Trump's version of the spending bill (which the executive branch seems hellbent on doing) will likely be far worse off for these institutions in the end, right? If you illegally fire people during a shutdown, there may be more leverage with the courts.
As a foreigner here, this is just absolutely absurd.
NEW: Hours before a new entry ban is supposed to go into effect, the federal government officially acknowledges for the first time that the restrictions do NOT apply to people who currently have H-1B visas.
